Former major leaguer Dan Serafini (49) became a criminal.

Local media such as ‘NBC News’ quoted the announcement of judicial authorities on the 21st (Korean time) and reported that Serafini was detained by the police on charges of murder and attempted murder.

They shot and killed Serafini’s father-in-law, Robert Garry Spo, on June 5, 2021, and also shot her mother-in-law, Wendy Wood, but Wood recovered after being taken to the hospital. Wood passed away a year later.

Judicial authorities identified the two as suspects through the evidence collection process after securing CCTV footage of a man wearing a backpack and covering his face with a hood and a mask approaching the victim’s residence a few hours before the incident occurred.

The relationship with the accomplice was not revealed. A sheriff’s office official said, “The two suspects are known to each other.”

Serafini was arrested in an area called Winnemucca, Nevada, and his accomplice, Scott, was arrested at Harry Reid International Airport in Las Vegas, Nevada.

It has not yet been revealed whether the two have hired lawyers.

County Sheriff Wayne Wu praised the efforts of law enforcement officials who caught the suspect after years of hard work, saying, “Today, justice was finally served.”

Serafini began his career as a professional player when he was drafted by the Minnesota Twins with the 26th pick in the first round of the 1992 draft.

He debuted in the big leagues in 1996, and pitched in 104 games over seven seasons for six teams, recording 15 wins, 16 losses, 1 save, and an ERA of 6.04.

He also played in Japanese professional baseball from 2004 to 2007 and also played in the Mexican league. Playing for Quintana Roo in the Mexican League in 2013 was the last of his career.

In 2009 and 2013, he also played for Italy in the World Baseball Classic.
